Srinagar Police Attach ₹1.20 Crore Property of Drug Peddler

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh. This action forms part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, the Police Station Nowhatta executed the attachment in connection with FIR No. 61/2019, which pertains to Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The identified assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house and a separate single-storey kitchen block that comes equipped with three washrooms, set on a land area measuring 09 marlas.

Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, hails from Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal in Srinagar. Police investigations strongly indicated that the said property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking activities.

Following due legal process, authorities have classified the assets as illegally acquired and attached them as per the provisions of the NDPS Act. This decisive action reflects Srinagar Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug networks operating in the region.

Moreover, the authorities reiterated their resolve to amplify operations against drug peddlers. They have urged the public to assist in this mission by sharing any relevant information on drug abuse or trafficking activities in their communities.

The continuous effort of the Jammu and Kashmir administration to create a drug-free society highlights the importance of community cooperation and vigilance in eradicating narcotics from the region. With a focus on enhancing public awareness, the Nasha Mukt initiative aims to minimize the impact of drugs on vulnerable populations and foster a healthier environment.

As the campaign progresses, Srinagar Police remains adamant in its fight against the drug menace. Stakeholders assert that such actions are critical in curbing the rise of drug-related activities, emphasizing that collective societal efforts can make a significant difference. The goal remains simple yet profound: to enable a safer, drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
