J&K’s Aiyza Naz Chib Shines as India Wins Gold at 20th Asian Roller Hockey Championship

In a historic triumph for Indian roller sports, the Indian Senior Women’s Roller Hockey Team emerged victorious at the 20th Asian Roller Hockey Championship, clinching the Gold Medal in a riveting final match  against New Zealand in Jecheon, South Korea. Held from July 19 to July 30, 2025, the tournament followed a round-robin format featuring seven national teams, with every team playing against each other. the participating teams included Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hongkong China, P R of China,, Maccau China and India.

Among the standout performers was Aiyza Naz Chib, daughter of Police Inspector Sajad Haider (J&K Police), who became the first-ever athlete from Jammu & Kashmir to clinch gold medal in prestigious international event marking a historic debut on the global roller hockey stage.

India’s campaign was a testament to tactical precision, perseverance, and spirited teamwork:

The round-robin league method was adopted for making it an intense and competitive championship.

Against Australia, widely considered the strongest contender, India delivered a stunning upset through disciplined defense and incisive counter play.
The face-off with Japan, another powerhouse, showcased India’s technical finesse and unmatched stamina solidifying their reputation as serious title contenders.

  A commanding opening win over Hongkong China set tone for India’s confident run.
A gritty victory over  Public Republic of China further demonstrated India’s resolve under pressure.

Playing its last match against New Zealand, India sealed the championship with a strategic flourish and a final score of 13–0, crowning their unbeaten run with gold.

Organized by World Skate Asia and supported by the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI), the event has spotlighted India as a rising force in the global roller hockey circuit.
