A fresh batch of 964 Amarnath pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu towards the Baltal base camp at 3.05 a.m. on Tuesday. The journey occurs under strict security protocols.
The 27th batch included various demographics, comprising 744 men, 177 women, one child, 32 sadhus, and 10 sadhvis. The Zonal Police Control Room in Jammu confirmed that the contingent traveled in a convoy of 39 vehicles, which consisted of 21 buses, eight medium motor vehicles, and 10 light motor vehicles.
With the latest departure, the overall number of pilgrims who have set off for the Shri Amarnath Yatra has reached an impressive 1,41,712 this season. This annual pilgrimage, a major event for devotees, plays a crucial role in the region’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
Meanwhile, officials reported that the 25th return convoy carrying pilgrims departed from the Baltal base camp back to Jammu on the same day. This convoy included 2,073 pilgrims—1,552 men, 461 women, 11 children, 41 sadhus, and eight sadhvis.
The return convoy consisted of 63 vehicles, which comprised 42 heavy motor vehicles, six medium motor vehicles, 14 light motor vehicles, and one truck, ensuring safe transport for returning devotees.
This year’s Amarnath Yatra has proceeded smoothly, supported by multiple layers of security which include the Jammu and Kashmir police and various other security agencies. The coordination among these bodies has helped maintain timely schedules for both upward and downward convoys.
Officials emphasized that they remain vigilant to ensure the safety of all pilgrims during this important cultural trek to the revered shrine situated in the Himalayas.
