Samba Police Arrest Man with Illegal Revolver in Jammu

The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a man with an illegal revolver in Samba district on Saturday, shedding light on a disturbing trend of firearms-related offenses in the region.

Police apprehended Munna Singh, a Sohal village resident currently residing in Samba, after spotting him under suspicious circumstances. The incident occurred near JDA Colony while he was en route from Data Talab to Kikri Morh.

When police observed Singh, he attempted to flee but officers quickly chased and detained him. Upon conducting a personal search, they discovered a revolver in his possession.

Singh could not present any valid license or legal documentation authorizing him to carry the weapon. This lack of accountability raises serious concerns about illegal firearms in the area.

Authorities registered a case under the Arms Act at the Bari Brahmana police station. Police officials emphasized their commitment to combating illegal arms and enhancing community safety.

This arrest forms part of a broader initiative by Jammu and Kashmir Police to enforce stricter control over firearms and prevent gun violence. The growing prevalence of illegal arms remains a critical challenge in the region.

The police spokesperson stated, “We are making significant efforts to reduce illegal firearms, as they pose a threat to public safety and order.” Further investigations continue to understand the full scope of the situation.

As efforts to curb gun-related crime intensify across Jammu and Kashmir, this incident highlights the importance of vigilant policing and community cooperation.
