VDG Member Allegedly Shoots Woman Dead in Chatroo, Kishtwar

In a shocking and tragic incident from the Chatroo Sub Division of Kishtwar district, a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member allegedly shot and killed a woman late last night.

The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar son of Ram Lal a resident of Arigam Singhpura in Chatroo Sub Division. The deceased has been identified as Pushpa Devi wife of Rakesh Kumar, hailing from the same village.

According to preliminary reports, the woman died on the spot after being shot. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this stage.

Upon receiving the information, a police team promptly reached the scene, apprehended the accused, and registered a case under FIR No. 37/2025 at Police station Chatroo. A thorough investigation is underway to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused.

After completing all necessary medical and legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her family for the last rites by the Kishtwar Police team.
