Tragic Mishap at Temporary Bridge in Mughalmaidan; Infant Swept Away, Mother and Daughter Rescued
Kishtwar : A heartbreaking incident was reported from the Mughalmaidan area of Kishtwar district, where a four-month-old infant lost life after being swept away by strong water currents in a nearby stream.
According to reports, Muhammad Usman, son of Muhammad Ashraf and a resident of Higrana, Mughalmaidan, was travelling with his family when the incident occurred. While crossing a temporary bridge, the family reportedly lost balance and fell into the fast-flowing stream below.
Locals and volunteers present at the scene immediately launched a rescue operation. The mother and her young daughter were successfully rescued and shifted to a safer location. However, the infant was carried away by the strong currents and could not be saved.
The tragic incident has once again raised serious concerns among residents regarding the unsafe condition of temporary bridges in the area. Locals have urged the administration to take immediate steps for the construction of a permanent and secure bridge to prevent such incidents in the future.
Authorities are expected to assess the situation and initiate necessary measures to ensure the safety of commuters in the region.
