Seven Dead, 15 injured after Tempo Traveler fell into gorge near JK’s Doda

Doda, July 15:A series of accidents continues to plague Doda district, with yet another incident occurring today, resulting in significant loss of life and numerous injuries.


According to DC Doda Harvinder Singh Seven persons were killed and 15 others injured when a passenger vehicle (Tempo Traveler) skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Ponda area of JK’s Doda district on Tuesday.

  The accident took place on Doda-Bharth road near Ponda when the driver of a tempo traveller lost control while negotiating a blind curve, the officials said.

  According to DC Doda Harvinder Singh, 22 passengers were travelling in the vehicle at the time of accident.

   After accident, the rescue operation was immediately launched by local police, and volunteers, with authorities rushing to the scene to assist in retrieving the victims and providing emergency medical aid.

  Three persons were found on spot dead, while 19 others taken to GMC Doda. Later, two more succumbed to injuries resulting death toll reaches 5 with 17 injured persons.

   DC Doda Harvinder Singh informed that seriously injured were shifted to GMC Jammu for further treatment.

  Later, two more injured persons succumbed in GMC Jammu resulting death toll reach 7.

    DC Doda Harvinder Singh also informed that Rs 25000 under red cross has been released as an immediate relief and further is under process.

  Meanwhile Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh expressed his grief over the incident.

  He says. ” All possible help and medical aid being provided. DC is personally supervising the entire exercise and giving me regular updates.”

   The deceased have been identified as Mohd Ashraf 35 S/O Mohd Assadullah Wani, R/O Aul , Mangta Wani 51 S/O Ghulam Wani, R/O Aul, Atta Mond 33 S/O Ghulam Mohd, R/O Balli Dhar, Tariq Hussain 35 S/O Abdul Jabbar Naik, R/O Aul and Rafiqa Begum 60 D/O Abdul Latief Magray, R/O Aul.

6 Abdul Rashid S/O Abdul Gani R/O Aul 42 Male Injured
