Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament Concludes Successfully in Kishtwar

The Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament, organized by the District Police Kishtwar at the historic Chowgan Ground, concluded today amidst enthusiastic participation from people across various sections of society. A total of 109 teams, including three all-female teams, participated in the two-month-long tournament.
The grand finale was played between Kishtwar Warriors and Asraria Cricket Club Kishtwar. In an exciting contest, Asraria Cricket Club emerged victorious by 77 runs. The winning captain, while speaking to the media, appreciated the efforts of District Police Kishtwar for consistently organizing this annual tournament as a tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in channelizing youth energy towards positive and constructive activities like sports, which also play a vital role in combating social evils such as drug abuse.
Prizes were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams, with appreciation extended to all participants for their sportsmanship, which ensured the tournament was conducted peacefully and successfully.
Additional SP Kishtwar, Shri Pawan Sharma, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all players and spectators for their overwhelming support and participation. “Through this tournament, we once again pay rich tributes to our bravehearts who laid down their lives for the nation,” he said. He also lauded the participation of female teams, assuring that Kishtwar Police will continue to encourage such sports activities to engage the youth in meaningful pursuits.
