In a major breakthrough, District Police Kishtwar successfully solved two theft cases involving hardware and kiryana items, arresting six accused and recovering stolen property worth Rs five lakh.
The first case, reported on January 7, 2025, involved a complaint from Mohd Farooq, proprietor of M/s Shalimar Glass House, regarding the theft of geysers and other hardware items. FIR No. 09/2025 under sections 305/331(4) BNS was registered. The second case, reported on January 11, 2025, was lodged by Raman Gupta of Shakti Nagar, Kishtwar, concerning stolen kiryana items. FIR No. 14/2025 under sections 331(4)/305 BNS was registered.
Under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Javaid Iqbal Mir, a special investigation team led by SHO Inspector Firdous Ahmed and supervised by Incharge DySP Headquarters Sajjad Khan was constituted. Using technical inputs and thorough investigation, the team identified and apprehended the main accused, Rahul Singh, leading to the arrest of five other accomplices.

Abhishek Mahajan, S/o Kewal Kishore, R/o Udhampur City, A/p Thathri City, Doda, Irshad Ahmed, S/o Late Mohd Hussain, R/o Thathri Market, Doda and Rajesh Kumar Gupta, S/o Bodh Raj Gupta, R/o Kandani, Kishtwar.
Following sustained interrogation, the accused confessed and revealed the stolen property locations. The police recovered the items successfully.
