KISHTWAR POLICE SOLVES SACRILEGE CASE AT CHATROO; 05 ACCUSED ARRESTED
Kishtwar, May 17, 2026:
In a prompt and professional investigation, Kishtwar Police has successfully solved a case of sacrilege reported in the Chatroo area and arrested five accused persons involved in the commission of the crime.
SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, while sharing the details that on 08.05.2026, an information was received at Police Station Chatroo regarding an act of sacrilege by some nefarious elements in the jurisdiction of Chatroo. Acting swiftly, a case FIR No. 13/2026 under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at PS Chatroo and investigation was set into motion.
A special investigation team was constituted led by SHO PS Chatroo, Insp. Rishi Kumar, under the close supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Pardeep Singh-JKPS and Dy. SP PC Dachhan Sh. Nitish Sharma-JKPS.
During the course of investigation, multiple suspects were rounded up for sustained questioning. Through meticulous analysis of technical evidence and human intelligence, the involvement of the main accused was established. Subsequently, the following accused persons were arrested on 15.05.2026 and sharp-edged implements were also recovered on their disclosure:
1). Sajjad Hussain S/O Ghulam Rasool 2). Din Mohd S/O Ghulam Hassan3). Mohd Ramzan S/O Abdul Aziz 4). Ghulam Hassan S/O Mumma Rather 5). Mohd Ismail S/O Bashir Ahmed All residents of Kawath Drubeel, Tehsil Mughalmaidan.
SSP Kishtwar has appealed to the general public to maintain communal harmony and refrain from indulging in or supporting any act that hurts the religious sentiments of any community. He emphasized that Kishtwar Police remains committed to taking strict action against anyone attempting to disturb peace and harmony in the district.
