Independence Day Celebrations in Kishtwar to be Held in a Solemn Manner in View of Padder Cloudburst Tragedy

In light of the devastating cloudburst incident that occurred Yesterday at Chisoti in Sub Division Padder, enroute the Annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra route claiming several lives and leaving many injured or missing, the District Administration Kishtwar has decided to observe Independence Day 2025 in a solemn manner as a mark of respect to the departed souls.

According to a circular issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, there will be no cultural events. The celebrations will be limited to National Flag hoisting, singing of the National Anthem, a march past by security contingents and an address by the VIP.

The same pattern will be followed at all Sub-Division and Tehsil headquarters across the district. The decision reflects the administration’s solidarity and grief with the families affected by the Padder tragedy.
