Empowering Kishtwar’s Rural Economy: JKCIP Initiative Lifts Farmers and Youth
An awareness camp was successfully held today in Mughalmaidan, Kishtwar, under the Jammu & Kashmir Comprehensive Investment Plan (JKCIP) to empower farmers, youth, and women. The initiative aims to boost the region’s rural economy by bridging the information gap and providing the local community with access to government schemes and modern agricultural practices.
Experts from the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries provided valuable insights into sustainable farming techniques. The program highlighted the importance of crop diversification, organic farming, and integrated farming systems to increase income. There was also a special focus on livestock management, fodder development, and irrigation techniques.
A key part of the camp was promoting the flagship schemes under JKCIP, which offers credit-linked subsidies, machinery support, and skill development programs. Participants were encouraged to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in agri-allied sectors such as dairy, poultry, aquaculture, and mushroom cultivation.
