Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband in Kishtwar: Police Launch Probe

In a shocking incident that has shaken the community, a 22-year-old woman, Yasmina Begum was allegedly killed by her husband Amir Mushtaq at their residence in Sangram Bhatta Kishtwar, in the early hours of today.

According to sources, a distress call was received by Kishtwar Police regarding a domestic dispute. A police team headed by SHO Police station Kishtwar Insp Firdous Ahmed rushed to the spot and found Yasmina unresponsive. Despite immediate medical attention, she was declared dead on the scene.

The accused, 24-year-old Amir Mushtaq, has been taken into custody. Police have confirmed that the case is being investigated. Notably, the couple had been married just 15 days ago.

SHO Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed confirmed that a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been dispatched to collect evidence from the spot.

Family members of the deceased have demanded a fair and thorough probe, expressing deep grief and outrage over the loss of Yasmina.

Kishtwar Police have assured that all angles will be investigated. Forensic experts are examining the evidence while statements of witnesses are being recorded to ascertain the exact circumstances. Yasmina’s body has been sent for post-mortem to district hospital Kishtwar.

Community leaders have expressed their shock, stating that the incident highlights the urgent need to raise awareness against domestic violence. “We must address this menace collectively through open dialogue, legal awareness and social responsibility,” they said.

Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation. Updates will be shared as the probe progresses.
