Tragic Road Accident in Passerkot, Kishtwar: Woman Crushed to Death by CRPF Vehicle

A tragic incident unfolded today in Passerkot area of sub-division Chatroo, Kishtwar district, where a woman lost her life after being crushed by a CRPF vehicle.

The deceased has been identified as Hanifa Begum wife of Mohammad Akbar Malik a resident of Malikpora Passerkot. As per initial reports, the CRPF vehicle bearing registration number HR 49 J 0645 allegedly hit the woman near Passerkot, resulting in her death on the spot.

Locals, upon hearing about the incident, rushed to the site and were shocked to find the woman lifeless. Eyewitnesses accused the vehicle of overspeeding and staged a protest demanding immediate action against the driver responsible for the accident.

The incident drew the attention of senior officials from District Police Kishtwar and Civil Administration, who promptly reached the scene to assess the situation. Meanwhile, the protestors blocked the road and raised slogans demanding justice for the deceased, compensation for the bereaved family and registration of an FIR against the driver.

Following assurances from the authorities and intervention by senior officials the protest was pacified. The body of the deceased was then shifted to PHC Chatroo, where all necessary medical and legal formalities were completed. The body was later handed over to the family for final rites.

District Police Kishtwar has confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Police Station Chatroo and a thorough investigation is currently underway.

The district administration has expressed grief over the incident and assured the public that due process will be followed to ensure justice is delivered.
