Kishtwar, Mar 10: The Kishtwar–Anantnag road via Sinthan Top has been closed for vehicular movement following adverse weather conditions and fresh snowfall in the higher reaches. Authorities said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to avoid accidents and ensure public safety.
Officials said snowfall and rainfall in the upper areas of Sinthan Pass have made the road slippery and unsafe for traffic. Commuters have been advised not to travel on the route until the weather improves and the road is declared safe.
According to the Meteorological Department, several high-altitude areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Sinthan Top, have received fresh snowfall during the last 24 hours, which may temporarily disrupt traffic movement across mountain passes.
