Early this morning, a fire broke out at the Kishtwar View Restaurant near the Mini Secretariat DC Office Complex in Kishtwar. Locals were quick to respond, attempting to contain the flames. Kishtwar Police, firefighters, and Red Cross volunteers soon joined the rescue efforts. Despite their combined efforts, the fire was eventually extinguished, but the restaurant was completely reduced to ashes.
Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported. However, the restaurant owner, Vineet Thakur, has suffered significant property losses amounting to lakhs of rupees. Speaking to the media, Vineet Thakur expressed his shock at waking up to the devastating news and recounted the rescue efforts that ultimately proved unable to save the property.
Vinnet Thakur has appealed to the district administration for immediate compensation to help rebuild his restaurant and restore his livelihood.
