Srinagar, June 19: Aam Aadmi Party’s Doda MLA and J&K State President, Mehraj Malik, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to launch a scathing attack on the Omar Abdullah-led government, demanding the Chief Minister’s resignation over alleged government apathy.
In a strongly-worded post, Malik wrote, “Shame on @OmarAbdullah Govt. He should resign and sit at home.” His remarks came while sharing a video of a student, Dania from Anantnag, who recently returned from Iran and was seen speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI).
In the viral video, Dania alleged that neither she nor her fellow student from Iran received any support or assistance from the Union Territory administration upon their return. The clip showed her visibly upset, highlighting the lack of basic facilities extended to them by the J&K Government.
The post quickly gained traction, drawing public criticism toward the UT government’s handling of returning students. One of the top comments read, “Ye log kuch nhi krta, greeb hamesha Marta hai,” reflecting the sentiment of neglect felt by the public.
The development has sparked fresh political friction in Jammu and Kashmir, with opposition leaders questioning the government’s priorities and responsiveness towards students and citizens in distress.
