Major Crackdown on Terrorists and OGWs in Kishtwar
Kishtwar: In a significant operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police launched simultaneous searches at 26 locations across Kishtwar District early Saturday morning, targeting houses linked to terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Over Ground Workers (OGWs). The operation was spearheaded by SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh and Additional SP Pardeep Singh, with assistance from paramilitary forces.
The coordinated effort involved 26 J&K Police teams conducting thorough searches in areas including Kishtwar, Chatroo, and Padder. Authorities collected digital devices and documents, and interrogations of certain individuals are currently underway.
Notably, the search included the residence of Jahangir Saroori, identified as one of the longest-surviving terrorists in Kishtwar. Police reports indicated that the operation was aimed at dismantling networks established by terrorists who had fled to PoK in the 1990s and are suspected of attempting to revive militant activities in the region.
In recent months, security forces have intensified their cordon and search operations throughout Kashmir and Doda, responding to intelligence on suspicious movements. These efforts have resulted in the recovery of arms and ammunition, showcasing the proactive approach of security agencies to counter potential threats and maintain peace in the region.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to thwarting the machinations of terrorists and ensuring the safety of residents in Kishtwar and surrounding areas. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
