Cow Rescued:- Chowgan Witnesses a Heartwarming Display of Brotherhood & Humanity in Kishtwar
Kishtwar: 23 March 2025 (Baber Farooq)
The spirit of love, peace, humanity, and brotherhood was once again on full display in Kishtwar today when a cow belonging to Mohammad Ali Sheikh, a resident of Bunastan, slipped and fell into a deep trench dug for the installation of electric poles and transformers.
As soon as locals of Bunastan became aware of the incident, they rushed to the spot and immediately began efforts to save the stranded cow. Despite the challenging situation, they managed to adjust the cow’s position to help her survive until a full-scale rescue operation could be launched.
Soon after, Red Cross Kishtwar, JK SDRF, Kishtwar Police, locals from Bunastan, and members of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, including its district president, arrived at the scene to assist in the rescue. Responding swiftly, the district administration deployed officials from multiple departments, including the Power Development Department (PDD) and the Municipal Committee (MC) Kishtwar. Two JCB machines were pressed into service, and community members—both Hindu and Muslim—joined hands to ensure the cow’s safety.
Amidst the rescue operation, an inspiring act of communal harmony unfolded. As the time for Iftar arrived, Muslim rescuers had to break their fast. Witnessing their dedication, Hindu community members and locals from Bunastan arranged essential items, including dates and water, allowing them to break their fast without pausing their humanitarian efforts.
After an hour-long coordinated effort post-Iftar, the cow was finally rescued safely. The owner of the cow expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in the operation.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Kishtwar, lauded the collective efforts of the rescue team, the Red Cross, the district administration, and especially the locals who worked tirelessly to save a life. He described the incident as a shining example of brotherhood, where people from different faiths came together with a shared purpose of compassion and humanity.
He further urged the district administration to implement precautionary measures during construction and development projects to prevent such incidents in the future.
This rescue mission was not just about saving an animal’s life; it was a powerful testament to the unbreakable bond of unity and the shared values of love and respect that defines Kishtwar.
