Kishtwar experienced its season’s second snowfall, bringing joy and excitement to the residents. The region’s upper reaches and low-lying areas were blanketed in fresh snow, as people woke up to a picturesque morning filled with snowflakes, which they described as a manifestation of divine mercy.
In light of the fresh snowfall, the District Administration of Kishtwar issued an advisory highlighting the challenges posed by slippery conditions and thick fog reducing visibility. As a precautionary measure, traffic on the Kishtwar-Sinthan National Highway via Sinthan Top has been suspended until further notice.
According to the advisory, no vehicles will be permitted towards Sinthan Top. The Station House Officer of Chatroo has been directed to enforce a strict no-entry policy at the Parna Police Check Post, Chingam. The District Police Kishtwar continues to operate a help desk to assist residents, urging them to contact the Police Control Room in case of emergencies.
Residents and travelers are advised to adhere to the traffic guidelines and avoid unnecessary travel on the Kishtwar-Sinthan Pass and other landslide-prone areas.
