In a determined effort to combat the drug menace, the J&K Police in Kishtwar apprehended two individuals involved in drug peddling at separate locations. A total of 8 grams of heroin-like narcotic substances were seized during the operations. In the Indira Nagar area, a team led by SHO Police station Kishtwar Inspector Firdous Ahmed intercepted a suspicious individual during routine patrolling. The suspect, identified as Arsalan Ahmed of Huller, Kishtwar, was found in possession of 3.05 grams of heroin-like substance. A case has been registered under FIR No. 15/2025 U/Sec. 8/21 NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing. In the Poochal area, another individual, Imran Hussain from Machgadi Poochal, Kishtwar, was apprehended during frisking. The police recovered 4.05 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. A case under FIR No. 18/2025 U/Sec. 8/21 NDPS Act has also been lodged, with further investigations in progress.
SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir emphasized the department’s unwavering commitment to eliminating the drug trade and protecting the youth. He warned all drug peddlers of strict legal action and assured the public that no one, irrespective of their influence, will be spared if involved in drug-related activities.The police have also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the illegal drug trade. Informants are assured complete confidentiality and suitable rewards for their cooperation.The crackdown on drug peddlers highlights J&K Police’s dedication to creating a drug-free society in Kishtwar.
