Health Department Kishtwar Issues Vital Health Advisory for Machail Yatra

Kishtwar: The Health Department, District Kishtwar issued a comprehensive Health Advisory for Machail Yatra 2025 to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey. Pilgrims are urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided.

General Health Guidelines includes Pre-Yatra Medical Check-up which is mandatory for pilgrims above 50 years or those with existing medical conditions such as hypertension, asthma, and diabetes. To Avoid High-Risk Groups including Pregnant women, elderly above 75 years and individuals with cardiac or respiratory issues are advised not to undertake the Yatra without consulting a doctor. Acclimatization which includes sudden altitude gain may cause Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Pilgrims must walk slowly, rest frequently and stay hydrated.
Essentials items to Carry during the yatra includes Government-issued ID (Aadhar, Voter ID), Personal medications with prescriptions,ORS packets, glucose, pain relief sprays,
Warm clothes, rain gear, gloves, waterproof footwear,High-calorie food/snacks (nuts, energy bars),Sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, Water bottle, purification tablets and Small first-aid kit. Besides this temporary Medical Camps and Ambulances will be stationed at key points, including Drabshalla, Shalimar, Dool, Kwar, Padyarna, Keeru, Galhar, Tata Pani, Atholi, Gulabgarh, Massu, Chishoti, Hamori and Machail Mata Temple. Yatries are also requested that to maintain a steady pace and do not overexert during trekking and to avoid drinking cold stream water without boiling or purification and to use designated toilets to maintain hygiene.Yatries are also requested to Watch for AMS symptoms like headache, nausea, fatigue, breathlessness and Report immediately if any symptom appears. Advisory is issued in the public interest by the Health Department, District Kishtwar and all pilgrims are requested to comply for a safe and successful Yatra.
