In a significant breakthrough, Doda Police arrested a hardcore absconder who had been evading arrest for over 19 years. The absconder, Asif Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, originally from Bimna Colony Srinagar and currently residing in Bandipura, Kashmir, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 203/2004 under Sections 279/337 RPC at Police Station Doda.
According to SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta the investigation in the case had been completed, and a challan was filed in the court. However, Asif Ali was declared an absconder, and a warrant under Section 299 Cr. PC was issued by the CJM Court Doda on September 13, 2005. Despite multiple efforts to apprehend him, he successfully evaded capture for nearly two decades.
Acting on SSP Doda’s directions, a team led by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO Police station Doda, and supervised by DySP Headquarters Doda, utilized both technical and human intelligence to trace the absconder. After intensive efforts, the team arrested him in Bandipura and brought him to Doda, where he was presented before the court.
This arrest is part of a special drive by Doda Police against absconders and hardcore criminals. Over the past two months, nine absconders have been apprehended and produced in court, demonstrating the department’s commitment to ensuring justice and law enforcement.
