Jammu & Kashmir | March 8, 2026 – Dr. Tahir Rufayee, National Chairman of the National Foundation for Journalism and Media (NFJM), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Team India for scripting history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In his message, Dr. Rufayee noted that India’s remarkable victory over New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad is a moment of immense pride. This historic achievement solidifies India’s dominance in the sport, making them the first team to successfully defend a T20 World Cup title and secure back-to-back championships following their 2024 victory.

Dr. Rufayee specifically lauded the tournament’s standout performers, commending Sanju Samson for earning ‘Player of the Tournament’ honors with a phenomenal 321 runs in just five matches. He also praised Jasprit Bumrah, whose exceptional and highly strategic bowling figures of 4/15 earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award in the crucial final.

“This victory has filled the hearts of millions of Indians with pride and joy. It is a historic milestone for Indian cricket and a powerful inspiration for the youth of our country to pursue sports with dedication and determination,” said Dr. Rufayee.

He appreciated the collective contributions of the players, coaching staff, and support team whose discipline, unity, and flawless execution led to this remarkable success. Dr. Rufayee expressed hope that this triumph will further strengthen India’s sporting culture and encourage young talent to represent the nation on the global stage.
