BJP Honors Sher-e-Duggar Pt. Prem Nath Dogra on Birth Anniversary

On the birth anniversary of the revered nationalist leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, recognized fondly as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes today across Jammu and Kashmir. This significant observance highlighted Dogra’s legacy and his role in India’s national integration.

In Srinagar, Tarun Chugh, BJP National General Secretary and In-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, led a ceremony at the party office. Accompanied by senior leaders, he garlanded Dogra’s portrait, showcasing the party’s reverence for him.

Among those present were Sat Sharma, J&K BJP President; Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization); Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan. They collectively offered floral tributes, demonstrating their respect for Dogra’s contributions to the nation.

Tarun Chugh extolled Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He remarked, “His unwavering struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ became the moral compass of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to inspire the BJP today.”

Furthermore, Chugh emphasized that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A signifies the realization of Dogra’s lifelong vision, stating it serves as “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”

Sat Sharma characterized Pt. Dogra as a visionary leader who spearheaded the Praja Parishad Movement and devoted his life to fully integrating Jammu & Kashmir with India. He asserted, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

In addition, Ashok Koul recounted that Pt. Dogra exemplified moral integrity, leading the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement decisively, which culminated in the abolition of the separate post of Prime Minister in Jammu & Kashmir.

In Jammu, BJP leaders including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria, conducted a Hawan and offered floral tributes at Dogra Chowk.

Emphasizing Dogra’s legacy, Jugal Kishore Sharma affirmed, “Pt. Dogra was a towering statesman and patriot who led the historic Praja Parishad Movement for full integration of J&K with India.”

Sanjita Dogra motivated party workers to emulate Pandit Ji’s selfless spirit, saying that Dogra’s ideology still resonates in contemporary politics. Baldev Singh Billawaria asserted that Dogra laid the foundation for the unification of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union, encapsulating the enduring significance of his work.
