Advocate Mohsin Dar Urges Ban on Agent System in J&K RTOs; Transport Commissioner Responds
Jammu, June 12:
Advocate Mohsin Dar has urged J&K Transport Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan to ban the widespread agent system operating at various RTO and ARTO offices across the Union Territory, calling it a major source of corruption and a barrier to transparency in public services.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Advocate Dar stated that the agent system must be dismantled to ensure a fair and corruption-free process for citizens availing transport-related services.
Responding publicly, Transport Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan acknowledged the concern and said, “We have been on it for the last six months. Unfortunately, the people still go to them despite almost all services being online. Please use the online mode. The letter is to ensure against entry of agents.”
The exchange has once again brought attention to the persistence of middlemen at public offices, despite the government’s shift towards digital governance.
