Devastating Fire Incident in Sigdi: Livestock and Property Worth Lakhs Reduced to Ashes.
Kishtwar, May 26: A devastating fire incident late Monday night caused massive destruction in the Dayan area of Sigdi village in Tehsil Mughal Maidan of Kishtwar district, leaving a poor family shattered after their livestock and property worth lakhs were completely destroyed.
According to local reports, the fire broke out suddenly during the night and spread rapidly, engulfing a cattle shed (Koshad) before the family or nearby residents could bring the situation under control. Due to the intensity of the flames, several animals trapped inside the shed were burnt alive.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of two cows, one calf, and ten goats, all of which perished in the blaze. Besides the livestock, a considerable amount of household property, fodder, and other valuable belongings stored near the shed were also reduced to ashes.
The affected family belongs to Tajdeen, son of Abdullah, a resident of Dayan area of Sigdi. Locals stated that the livestock was the family’s primary source of livelihood, and the incident has caused severe financial hardship to them.
Soon after the incident, local residents rushed to the spot and attempted to control the fire, but the flames had already caused extensive damage. Residents of the area have appealed to the district administration and concerned authorities to immediately assess the losses and provide adequate compensation and financial assistance to the affected family.
The tragic incident has created an atmosphere of grief and concern in the entire area, with locals demanding swift relief measures for the victim family.
