Illegal Weapon Recovered in Chatroo, One Arrested Under Arms Act

Kishtwar, May 24: In a major action against unlawful activities, District Police Kishtwar recovered an illegal country-made pistol (Desi Katta) during a routine patrolling operation in the Rahal Inderwal area of Chatroo and arrested one accused person.
According to police officials, on 24-05-2026, a police party of P/S Chatroo headed by PSI Majid Shafi along with HC Prem Chand No. 826/Ktr, HC Mushtaq Ahmed No. 49/Ktr, SPO Bittu Kumar No. 940/SPO and SPO Mangat Ram No. 161/SPO was conducting routine patrolling in the Rahal Inderwal area when they received reliable information regarding illegal possession of a weapon by one person identified as Shabir Ahmed S/O Ghulam Ali R/O Rahal, Inderwal Tehsil Chatroo.
Acting swiftly on the information, the police party reached the residence of the suspect at around 1515 hrs. During questioning, the accused disclosed that he had concealed one Desi Katta outside his house in wooden logs. Subsequently, during the search, one Desi Katta wrapped in green and white cloth was recovered from the wooden logs.
The accused failed to produce any valid licence or permission for possession of the weapon. Accordingly, the illegal weapon was seized on the spot and legal proceedings were initiated against him.
In this connection, case FIR No. 19/2026 U/S 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at P/S Chatroo and further investigation is going on.
The entire operation was conducted under the close supervision and observation of DySP and SHO Chatroo Inspector Rishi Kumar.
District Police Kishtwar reiterated its commitment towards maintaining peace, public safety and taking strict action against unlawful and anti-social activities across the district.
