KISHTWAR POLICE RESCUES 32 BOVINES AT CHATROO AND MARWAH; 03 BOVINE SMUGGLERS ARRESTED
Kishtwar, May 19, 2026:
Continuing its sustained drive against bovine smuggling, District Police Kishtwar rescued a total of 32 bovines and arrested 03 bovine smugglers in the jurisdictions of Police Station Chatroo and Police Station Marwah.
A police party of Police Station Chatroo, led by SHO PS Chatroo along with his team, during routine patrolling and naka checking at Haftal Khawara, intercepted two persons along with 25 bovine animals proceeding from Chatroo towards Kashmir via Sinthan.
On questioning, the accused disclosed their identity as Bashir Ahmed S/O Ghulam Hassan R/O Maliknaar Chatroo and Ahmdu Koli S/O Ghulam Qadir R/O Urigrah Chatroo. They failed to produce any valid permission or documents for transportation of the bovine animals. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 16/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Chatroo and investigation has been taken up.
In a separate patrolling and naka checking of PS Marwah, a police party led by SHO PS Marwah rescued 07 bovine animals and apprehended one bovine smuggler, namely Shahid Hussain S/O Ghulam Hassan Wagay R/O Hyenan at Nilsoo. He also failed to produce any valid permission or documents for transportation of the bovine animals.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 03/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Marwah. Further investigation is underway.
SSP Kishtwar emphasized that District Police Kishtwar will continue to take strict action against bovine smuggling and other illegal activities. He urged the public to remain vigilant and assist the police by providing timely information about any such unlawful practices.
