Arms & Explosives Recovered in Joint Operation in Kishtwar.

Kishtwar, May 1: In a significant breakthrough, security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during a joint operation in the Sigdi Bhatta area of Mughalmaidan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Army’s 11 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir Police following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of suspicious material in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, the joint team launched a well-coordinated search operation in the dense terrain of Sigdi Bhatta.
During the search, the forces recovered one carbine rifle, a pistol magazine, a quantity of ammunition rounds, a walkie-talkie set, and some explosive materials, all concealed at the site. Officials said the recovery points to the possible movement or presence of militants in the region and has averted a potential security threat.
Security officials termed the operation a proactive success, emphasizing that timely detection and seizure of such materials play a crucial role in preventing untoward incidents. The recovered items have been secured and will undergo forensic examination to ascertain their origin, possible linkages, and intended use.
The Kishtwar region, particularly the Mughalmaidan belt, has witnessed intermittent militant activity in recent years. In a recent encounter in the Chatroo area, security forces neutralized a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander, dealing a significant blow to militant networks operating in the region.
Following the recovery, security has been heightened across the area, with additional search operations and area domination patrols underway to ensure there is no further militant presence. Security agencies have also launched a detailed investigation into the recovery.
Authorities reiterated that coordinated efforts between the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police remain crucial in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
