J&K: 2 Terrorists Neutralized in Basantgarh Encounter

UDHAMPUR, Feb 4: Security forces on Wednesday neutralized two terrorists during a focused joint counter-terror operation in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, the Army’s White Knight Corps said.Jammu Kashmir Travel

The operation, code-named Operation KIYA, was launched based on specific intelligence inputs provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Troops of CIF Delta under White Knight Corps, in coordination with the J&K Police and the CRPF, established a tight cordon and ensured effective area domination to prevent the escape of the terrorists.

Contact with the terrorists was established on Tuesday, after which security forces successfully prevented them from breaking contact. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, the two terrorists were neutralised, the Army said.

The operation highlighted seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and a high level of professionalism among the participating forces.

The operation has been concluded, while the area continues to remain under surveillance as a precautionary measure. (Agencies)
