KISHTWAR POLICE INTENSIFIES WAR AGAINST DRUGS; 04 NDPS CASES REGISTERED IN ONE WEEK, NARCOTICS SEIZED

Kishtwar, Jan. 09, 2026:

Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing *“War Against Drugs”* campaign, District Police Kishtwar has achieved major success by registering four (04) NDPS cases within a week. The operations resulted in the arrest of multiple drug peddlers and the recovery of a substantial quantity of narcotic substances during the period.

While sharing the details, *SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh–JKPS* stated that District Police Kishtwar has launched an uncompromising campaign against narcotics smuggling with the active support and cooperation of the general public. *The details of the NDPS cases registered during the week are as under:*
1. FIR No. 05/2026, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, dated 05-01-2026, registered at Police Station Kishtwar
Accused: Mohd Rajab S/o Mohd Anwar Naik R/o Sarawan
Recovery: 211.54 grams of charas-like substance
2. FIR No. 10/2026, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, dated 07-01-2026, registered at Police Station Kishtwar
Accused: Umer Ali Waza S/o Safder Ali Waza R/o Pochhal, Kishtwar
Recovery: 6.5 grams of heroin-like substance
3. FIR No. 12/2026, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, dated 08-01-2026, registered at Police Station Kishtwar
Accused: Salman Nisar Sheikh S/o Nisar Ahmed Sheikh R/o Link Road, Kishtwar
Recovery: 18 grams of heroin-like substance
4. FIR No. 13/2026, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, dated 08-01-2026, registered at Police Station Drabshalla
Accused: Abdul Mujeeb S/o Khushi Mohd Khanday R/o Sergowari, Thakrai
Recovery: 21.5 grams of heroin-like substance

*In total, 211.54 grams of charas-like substance and 46 grams of heroin-like substance have been recovered during the recent operations.* Further investigation in all cases is underway to unearth backward and forward linkages and to identify other persons involved in the narcotics supply network.

*SSP Kishtwar* emphasised that District Police Kishtwar is fully committed and well-equipped to deal firmly with such elements strictly in accordance with the law. He further appealed to the people of Kishtwar to extend full cooperation to the police and share any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse on *the numbers 9906154100 and 9103454100,* assuring that the identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential.
