On Monday, Satish Sharma, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour, Jammu and Kashmir. This inauguration marks a pivotal moment in boosting sports infrastructure in border areas of the Union Territory.
In his address, Minister Sharma highlighted the government’s commitment to providing modern, accessible, and inclusive sports facilities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He pointed out that special attention is directed towards the rural and border regions to foster a vibrant sports culture and encourage a healthy lifestyle among young people.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a critical role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent,” Sharma emphasized. “Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to a lack of facilities.”
The newly inaugurated multipurpose indoor sports hall features world-class facilities designed to accommodate various sports disciplines simultaneously. It boasts three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, and two judo courts, in addition to two wrestling courts and kabaddi courts, providing a comprehensive training environment for aspiring athletes.
During the event, Minister Sharma engaged with local youth and athletes, encouraging them to utilize the new facility to its full potential. He reassured attendees that the government remains committed to prioritizing the development of sports infrastructure, youth engagement, and talent promotion throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
The inauguration of the indoor sports hall represents a significant leap forward in enhancing sports activities in Khour and surrounding regions. This development provides young athletes with access to modern, top-tier facilities in close proximity to their homes, fostering local sporting talent and encouraging community engagement.
