Authorities commenced this drive on September 25, 2023, involving Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) visiting local car dealerships to review transaction records.
Police officials revealed the inquiry pays particular attention to cases where individuals purchased multiple vehicles, a pattern often associated with suspicious or illegal activities. The inspections will ensure that all documentation maintained by dealers complies with established regulations.
Dealers received instructions to keep detailed records of every transaction, including Aadhaar details, phone numbers, and contact information for both buyers and sellers. This measure facilitates greater transparency and accountability in vehicle dealings.
