GMC Doda Achieves Milestone with First Thrombolysis for Stroke

Doda, Nov 2: In a groundbreaking development for the Chenab Valley, the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda has performed its first-ever thrombolysis procedure on a stroke patient. This milestone enhances the district’s emergency healthcare services significantly.

The procedure took place under the leadership of Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl and Head of the Department of Medicine, Dr. Amir Hussain Parray. This marks the inaugural application of such a sophisticated and time-sensitive treatment locally, which stands to benefit numerous patients in the region.

The patient, Roshan Lal, a resident of village Dolli in Gundna tehsil, arrived at GMC Doda exhibiting classic stroke symptoms. The medical team promptly evaluated him. Dr. Govinder Kumar (MD Medicine), with assistance from Resident Doctor Dr. Divyanshu and Intern Dr. Momin, quickly initiated treatment protocols. Additional support came from Mr. Rajinder Singh, Mr. Arif Mir, and the nursing staff, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient care.

According to the doctors, the patient responded positively to the thrombolytic therapy and is now on the path to recovery. Previously, acute stroke sufferers in Doda and nearby areas faced delays as they were often referred to GMC Jammu or other higher medical facilities, which could prove detrimental during critical moments.

The successful thrombolysis at GMC Doda signifies a transformative shift, enabling local residents to receive cutting-edge stroke management within the district. This advancement aims to minimize the lost time during vital treatment windows.

Dr. Bahl expressed pride in the achievement, declaring it “a landmark accomplishment for GMC Doda” that reassures countless individuals in remote areas about access to advanced medical care without unnecessary delays.

Dr. Parray reiterated this sentiment, stating, “This success underscores our team’s increasing expertise and dedication to emergency medicine. It transcends being a mere medical milestone—it represents a beacon of hope for the entire Chenab region.”

The local community has widely praised this event, viewing it as a significant enhancement to rural healthcare infrastructure. It stands as a crucial step towards ensuring timely medical interventions for stroke patients, especially within the golden hour from stroke onset, which is vital for positive health outcomes.

As GMC Doda continues to innovate and expand its medical capabilities, the region looks forward to a future where advanced healthcare is readily accessible, safeguarding the health and well-being of its residents.
