PM Modi Highlights 11 Years of Economic Growth from Make in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the 11th anniversary of the Make in India initiative on Thursday, asserting its pivotal role in driving the Indian economy towards self-reliance and bolstering indigenous production.

Speaking on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It is gladdening to see how 11 Years Of Make In India has contributed to furthering economic strength and laying the foundation for Aatmanirbharta. It has encouraged innovation and job creation across sectors.”

Launched on this day 11 years ago, the Make in India initiative aimed to inject momentum into India’s growth while tapping into the entrepreneurial spirit of the nation. The Prime Minister remarked, “Make in India has given an impetus to India’s entrepreneurs, thus creating a global impact.”

During his address at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, PM Modi urged a greater focus on indigenous production, stating that the government stands resolutely with stakeholders. He stressed the importance of transitioning towards a Swadeshi economy in India’s journey ahead.

“The government is putting a strong emphasis on Make in India manufacturing. We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India; for this, we are focusing on your ease of doing business,” PM Modi asserted. He highlighted the removal of over 40,000 compliances and the decriminalisation of more than a thousand laws, promising support to businesses.

As the Make in India initiative celebrates its achievements over the years, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal praised the government’s efforts in promoting indigenous defence manufacturing. He noted, “The world is a witness to India’s defence manufacturing strength today! Guided by the vision of PM Narendra Modi, the nation has scripted landmark achievements in indigenous defence production, reflecting the success of the Make in India initiative.”

In a notable demonstration of India’s growing prowess, the nation successfully launched the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile using a rail-based mobile launcher system, capable of covering a range of up to 2,000 km. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended congratulations to the agencies involved in this successful launch.

The ongoing commitment to the Make in India program reflects the government’s dedication to fostering innovation, driving job creation, and enhancing domestic production capabilities. As India embarks on its journey towards greater self-reliance, initiatives like these become pivotal in shaping the economic landscape of the nation.
