Kargil, Aug 18: At least 116 people, mostly non-local labourers including children and middle-aged individuals, were hospitalized after suffering suspected food poisoning in Leh, Ladakh

In a suspected food poisoning incident, over 100 people, primarily non-local laborers working on a film set, were hospitalized in Leh. The patients were taken to SNM Hospital and other medical facilities after reporting symptoms such as abdominal pain, headache, and vomiting.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 17, 2025, after approximately 600 people had a meal at the filming location. Due to the sudden influx of patients, there was a brief period of panic at the hospital, and some patients had to be treated on floor beds. Hospital staff from all departments were mobilized to manage the situation, and police were called in to help with crowd control.
Authorities have stated that the condition of the patients is stable, and many have already been discharged. Food samples have been collected for analysis to determine the exact cause of the illness.
